The Columbia High School Scholarship Fund (CHSSF) was established in 1923 with the mission of providing needs-based financial assistance to graduates of Columbia High School for any type of post-secondary education. Since its founding, the FCSSE has awarded more than $ 1.1 million in scholarships to several thousand students. The CHSSF is governed by an independent board of directors of local volunteers and is proud to be the largest provider of scholarships based on the needs of the South Orange and Maplewood community. Durand-Hedden House and Garden is a historic home museum that finds interesting ways to explore the fascinating past of the South Orange-Maplewood community – through nature, architecture, music, food, social life, local history, reenactments and participatory activities – and to highlight the âtreasuresâ in our own backyards. Help homeless families – parents and children – who need shelter, give them a place to stay and three meals a day by housing them in our network of churches and synagogues. While in our network of shelters, the network is working with moms and dads on a plan that addresses the issues that led to their homelessness. Impact100 Essex is a giving circle founded and funded by women in Essex County that brings women together to amplify the impact of their giving and empowering solutions for the community. As a fundraising arm of the Maplewood Library, the Foundation raised funds for the $ 22 million two-story renovation and expansion of the library’s Baker Street branch, which is currently underway. The three Special Improvement Districts (SIDs) of South Orange and Maplewood are funded primarily through assessments of commercial properties as well as contributions from the townships. However, residents can directly contribute to supporting events and beautification projects by making a donation to their non-profit management organizations: the Maple Village Alliance, Orange South City Center and Springfield Avenue Partnership.
MEND is an interfaith network of 17 member pantries located in Essex County, New Jersey. MEND strengthens and supports its pantry network by providing additional food, funds, volunteers and a monthly collaborative forum. The Coalition was founded in 1996 by a diverse group of citizens concerned about stagnant property values ââand the perceived decline in the quality of local public schools.
