Floods hit 2 villages in Negros city – Manila newsletter
BACOLOD CITY – Some houses in two villages in Cauayan, in Negros Occidental, were affected by flooding due to heavy rains on Wednesday, September 22.
In a video posted by Rhendo John Delos Reyes, the flood destroyed their sari-sari store, computer store and restaurant located in an elevated part of a stream.
Delos Reyes, in the video, said he was outside their house for a while to look for a WiFi signal, when the flooding occurred.
“Pagbalik ko amo na ni natabo, wala gid kami may nasal bar, zero kami balik” (When I came back it happened, we didn’t save anything, “he said in the video.
Delos Reyes, however, said he was happy the incident happened during the day and not in the evening, as his parents sleep at the sari-sari store.
According to the Municipal Office for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (MDRRMO), heavy rains lasted for about an hour and floodwaters reached the chest.
Affected households were located in the lower areas of Barangays Poblacion and Manoling.
However, despite the flooding, the MDRRMO said no evacuation had taken place as the flood waters subsequently subsided. No casualties were reported.
Meanwhile, Delos Reyes asks for help, following the incident.
