Letter: Support village arrives for Families First – Salisbury Post
I am Beth Hamilton from Families First-NC, Inc. I am the manager of the supervised visitation program called “visitation station”. I would simply like to acknowledge the help that Centraide has so graciously given us this year.
After being funded by the same source for over 12 years, we were told in August that these funds would not be available for the new grant year. We were devastated to say the least. Our program is a reference source for courts, lawyers and DSS when working with families facing domestic violence, custody or substance abuse issues. Our program offers these families an alternative to maintaining this parental bond safely by having someone monitor visits and ensure the safety of law enforcement. We now risk not being able to provide these services.
A call was made to Centraide for help. They came up with emergency funds that helped support the program. Their support has given us the opportunity to continue without interruption of services.
Along with the United Way, I would also like to thank the Rowan County Commissioners for their support. Thank you to County Director Aaron Church for referring my appeals, to Chairman of Commissioners Greg Edds for reading my emails and to Commissioner Judy Klusman for her guidance in getting us on their agenda to ” be taken into account for funding.
Another thank you to the lawyers and judges who donated, sent letters of support and contacted people to let it be known that we needed help.
It definitely took a village of support from our community partners and we thank you all!
