Murder investigation launched as woman found dead in Derbyshire village
A murder investigation has been opened after an elderly woman was found dead in a house in a Derbyshire village this morning.
A man was also found with life-threatening injuries at the Langwith Junction address, the AP reports.
Derbyshire Police said officers were called by paramedics at 9.30am on Saturday to an address in Station Road, Langwith Junction, and found the couple, both 88.

The man is being treated in hospital, the couple’s family have been notified and there will be a heavy police presence at the scene for some time, the force said.
Chief Superintendent of Divisional Commander Hayley Barnett said: ‘This is a shocking and understandable incident for the community of Langwith Junction and our hearts go out to everyone involved – especially the family and friends of the man and woman.
“Residents of Station Road and surrounding areas will see an increased police presence in the coming days and I want to reassure everyone in the area that all force resources, as well as regional colleagues from the Major Crimes Team of the ‘EMSOU (East Midlands Special Operations Unit), are working to understand all the circumstances of this incident.
“I urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the force, confidentially, urgently.”
